Idris Elba, Damon Albarn and Ebola fighters among New Year's Honours recipients

BRISTOL, England — Actor Idris Elba, Blur frontman Damon Albarn and campaigners against Ebola are among the 1,196 people receiving New Year's Honours in the UK for making life better for other people or being great at what they do. The list this year sees a rise in the proportion of women awarded at senior levels — 38% at the knighthood/damehood/C-level, up from 31% at the birthday awards.
